Pamela Murray is from the North East of England and has spent most of her life living in Boldon. She began writing at an early age when she and her school friend used to write stories for one another. The writing continued on and off over the years but was only recently reignited when the same school friend introduced her to the local writers’ group she was in.

Pamela had intended to enter Journalism after leaving school but found herself going to work in a Public Library instead, and has always had more than a passing interest in books and literature.

When not writing, Pamela is passionate about Cinema and her three grandchildren. She has also appeared as a Supporting Artiste in two episodes of the hit TV crime series “Vera”.

My Thoughts

Bloodhound Books is honestly killing it with the new releases right now. This is Pamela Murray’s debut novel and girl done good!

It is set in Manchester and the North East of England and you are thrown into this sit gripping, the intense investigation into a murder from the prologue. Chapter One hits the reader with a second murder which doesn’t seem related to the first, but it’s the death of the poor care home resident that really gets into the nitty gritty of the novel.

The investigators, DI Joe Burton and DS Sally Fielding, of the Greater Manchester Police (GMP). They seem to be the perfect team investigating the murder, and it’s these characters that the readers follow throughout the book. I am a fan of Patricia Cornwell (as a lot of my loyal followers will know) so I love character development in books, especially psychological thrillers as in my personal opinion it gives a more humane approach to not only the characters, but the victims and it’s not like you are reading a fiction novel, but an essay of sorts on a real event. Does that make sense? I hope it does, I don’t want to give too much away about the characters as I think it’s important you read the book yourself and give your own view of the characters and their history.

Burton and Fielding realise they could possibly have a serial killer on their hands, with no idea what they will next strike, how many other victims there could possibly be and if they will be able to find the killer before the bodies pile up.

What’s the Score?

Book Review: Murderland by Pamela Murray (Bloodhound Books)

Pamela Murray has really done justice to the genre of psychological thriller, she has created some amazing characters, an insanely good storyline and has paced the book really well, keeping you on the edge until the very edge, lip biting and “holy shit” moments all included. The ending is AMAZING, I wasn’t left unsatisfied the way I sometimes am with psychological thrillers.
